What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids foundin cannabis (both marijuana and hemp) reported to offer various therapeuticbenefits. CBD oil from industrial hemp plants has high levels of CBD whilehaving low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). For this reason, it isnon-psychoactive and can’t get you high. Because manufacturers use anassortment of cannabis plants and preparation techniques, the amount of CBD inproducts can vary significantly. CANVIVA produces a phytocannabinoid-rich,full-spectrum CBD oil with less than 0.3% THC. We also clearly show on thefront of our labels how much CBD is in every product.

What is the difference between CBD andTHC?

o   CBD (cannabidiol) and THC(tetrahydrocannabinol) are both cannabinoids found in industrial hemp andmarijuana plants.
o    CBD andTHC bind to cannabinoid receptors in your body to help regulate many of itsvital functions. THC binds differently, resulting in the psychoactive effectsor “high” commonly associated with smoking or consuming marijuana. However, CBDdoes not bind with this receptor in the same manner. Well tolerated, andbelieved to be safe and effective, CBD should not produce any psychoactiveeffects.
o    CANVIVA™ CBD products are madewith hemp-derived cannabinoid oil that is phytocannabinoid-rich, full-spectrum,and organically grown in the U.S. Our industrial hemp oil contains less than0.3% THC.

What is the difference between industrial hemp and marijuana?

o   Scientifically, industrialhemp and marijuana are the same plants, with a genus and species name ofCannabis sativa. Industrial hemp is always a strain of Cannabis sativa, whilemarijuana can be Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, or Cannabis ruderalis. Thedifference is how industrial hemp has been bred compared to the marijuana formof Cannabis sativa.
o    Marijuanahas high levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and low levels of CBD(cannabidiol).
o    Industrialhemp, on the other hand, has naturally high amounts of CBD and low (less than0.3%) amounts of THC. For this reason, the cannabinoid profile of industrialhemp is ideal for people looking for therapeutic benefits without the worry ofgetting “high.”
o    Uses forindustrial hemp include herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, naturalplastic, and so much more. In contrast, marijuana is usually usedrecreationally, spiritually, and medicinally.
o    The 2018Farm Bill legalized Industrial Hemp cultivation in the U.S. as long as the hempcontains less than 0.3% THC and the producer complies with state and/or federalregulatory programs. Marijuana remains federally illegal.

What is the differencebetween CBD products and hemp seed products found at a local grocery store?

Hemp seeds are often used as an ingredient in food andbody products found in grocery and other retail stores. They are high inprotein and nutrients, but hemp seeds contain almost no CBD.

What is the difference between FullSpectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate?

o   Different extractionmethods and processing are used in the production of three different types ofCBD:
o    Full-spectrum CBDcontains a wide range of cannabinoids, including CBD and trace amounts of THC(less than 0.3% THC). It includes many of the naturally occurring elementsfound in the hemp plant such as terpenes, vitamins, minerals, essential fats,and more.
o    Broad-spectrum CBDcontains 0% THC. It may be full-spectrum CBD with all traces of THC removed orit could also be a CBD isolate with terpenes and other compounds, except THC,added back in.
o    Isolate CBDcontains at least 99% pure CBD. It has been processed to remove all THC, andany other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and naturally occurring elementsfound in full-spectrum or broad-spectrum CBD.

What method of extraction does CANVIVA use?

o CANVIVA tinctures andtopicals contain whole-plant, food-grade ethanol extracted CBD oil. The oilfeatures a full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and othernaturally occurring compounds found in hemp.
o Thisextraction process uses food-safe ethanol, which makes it safe for consumption.In addition to cannabinoids and terpenes, full-spectrum CBD also contains avariety of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, protein, chlorophyll,flavonoids, and fiber.

What are terpenes?

o   Terpenes are organichydrocarbons found in the oils of plants. They can be broken down into sweet,sour, spicy, or bitter. These chemicals give plants, including cannabis, uniquescents, and flavors.
o    Commonterpenes found in hemp include Myrcene, Linalool, Limonene, Alpha-Pinene,Beta-Pinene, and Trans-Caryophyllene but they vary by strain. Additionally,many CANVIVA products include various essential oils and natural ingredientsselected for their terpene and flavonoid content to compliment the alreadybeneficial properties of CBD.

What is MCT oil?

Derived from coconut oil, MCT oil (medium-chaintriglyceride) is odorless, colorless, and liquid at room temperature. CANVIVAblends our CBD tinctures with MCT oil to make them easier to metabolize. Pleaseconsult your doctor or veterinarian in case of a coconut allergy.

How should I store my CBD and what is theformal shelf life?

For the best results, store your CBD oil product in a cooldark area to assure there is no loss of potency. CANVIVA packages all of ourtinctures in amber glass bottles to protect and ensure the quality of theircontents from both visible light and UV rays. However, you should not allow CBDto sit in direct sunlight. If properly stored, your product has an approximate2-year shelf life.

Is CBD legal or illegal?

o   Not all CBD is legaldespite the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. CBD derived from cannabis plantswith more than 0.3% THC (marijuana) remains illegal under federal law.
o    CBD is only legalwhen derived from hemp (containing less than 0.3% THC) and produced by alicensed grower, consistent with federal and state regulations. CANVIVAtinctures are made with hemp-derived cannabinoid oil (less than .3% THC) thatis phytocannabinoid-rich, full-spectrum, and organically grown in the U.S.
o    The FDAprohibits businesses from making therapeutic claims about the health benefitsof CBD. It is currently illegal to sell foods or dietary supplements containingCBD.
o    Westrongly recommend that you check with your state government, local policedepartment, or customs office for the most up-to-date information regarding thelegality of CBD.

Can I have CBD productssent to my house?

Yes, in March 2019, the USPS announced that CBD canlegally be mailed nationwide as long as it is derived from hemp, not cannabis,and contains less than 0.3% THC.

Can I bring CBD products on an airplane?

While CBD is legal across the U.S. if it contains lessthan 0.3% THC, you still need to be careful about looking up the rules and lawswherever you go. Other than that, the only consideration is just how much CBDyou’ve packed. If you plan to carry on your CBD product, the same rules applyas with other liquids and substances. You cannot bring anything hazardous orflammable aboard. You also have to keep your liquid contents under a certainamount. If you are still uneasy about clearing TSA checkpoints, transport yourCBD products in your checked baggage.

Is it possible to test positive on a drugtest while using CBD products?

o   The hemp oil in ourproducts contains CBD, which is a LEGAL cannabinoid from industrial hemp. Ourproducts are made with full-spectrum CBD containing minuscule amounts of THC(less than 0.3%) that could show up on a drug screen.
o    CANVIVAcannot guarantee that you will or will not pass a drug screen due to the numberof variables. Drug screens vary, and some can be more sensitive than others.Most companies only search for the cannabinoid THC, which is the mainpsychoactive component of the marijuana plant.
o    By law,you are allowed to ask the facility what cannabinoids they check for duringtesting. We suggest contacting the testing facility if there is any concern. Ifyou have to take a drug test, it might be best not to use CBD products.

Can I work while using CBD products?

Yes, you can work and carry on with normal activitieswhile taking CBD products. Many people take CBD products specifically becausethey do not produce the unwanted side effects of prescription andover-the-counter drugs.

Can I drive while using CBD products?

All our CBD products contain less than 0.3% of THC andwill have no psychoactive effects on your body. Because CBD may promoterelaxation, we recommend learning how your body reacts to CBD before driving oroperating heavy machinery.

Do I need a medical marijuana card to buyCBD products?

Since CBD contains less than 0.3% THC, it is not considered marijuana. Therefore, you donot need a prescription or card to purchase it.

Is CBD safe?

o   CBD is usually safe andnon-toxic even in high doses.
o    Studiesshow doses up to 1500mg per day, 150 times the 10mg standard dose, have beenwell tolerated in humans. In rare cases, some people have reported feelingtired, light-headed, or having a dry mouth.
o    CBD mayinhibit drug metabolism, much the way grapefruit does. Please consult aphysician before using CBD products if you are taking any prescribedmedications or have any concerns. Do not take if you are pregnant or nursing.

Is CBD safe to consume with my doctor-prescribed medications?

o   Please consult your healthcare professional about potential interactions or other possible complicationsbefore using any CANVIVA CBD product.
o    Grapefruitand CBD have a similar effect on P450, an enzyme found in the liver, whichmetabolizes different kinds of drugs in the human body. If taken in large doses,CBD can inhibit the metabolizing properties of P450, temporarily neutralizingthe effects of other medicinal products in the body’s system. This side effectis also responsible for why CBD counteracts the effects of THC.
o    A reviewon the safety and side effects finds that CBD might interfere with hepatic drugmetabolism and in vitro cell viability; decrease fertilization capacity; or thereduced activity of p-glycoprotein.

How does CBD work in the body?

o   The endocannabinoidsystem (ECS) is ourbody’s primary regulatory system. Cannabinoid receptors (CBr), along withnaturally-occurring cannabinoid-like chemicals called endocannabinoids, andenzymes form the ECS
o    The ECSis not an isolated system like the digestive or respiratory system. Instead, itis spread out throughout our body on nearly every organ. Responsible for homeostasis orkeeping our body functions in balance, it may affect everything from sleep,appetite, pain, inflammation, memory, mood, and reproduction.
o    Plantsubstances, phytocannabinoids,can also stimulate or interact with your ECS. To date, there have been over 100 cannabinoids discoveredin cannabis. The two most well-known are THC and CBD.
o    Found toinfluence the endocannabinoid system, CBD is best known for inhibiting theenzyme FAAH, leading to an increase in the amount of anandamide in the brain.Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and has very little binding affinity withthe endocannabinoid receptors.
o    Othernatural plant compounds, particularly terpenes have actions that arecomplementary to phytocannabinoids. These compounds work together in what isknown as the entourage effect.

What health issues or problems does CBD help?

The FDA does not permit any CBDmanufacturer to make claims suggesting their products are intended for use inthe diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease or thatthe products are intended to affect the structure of any function of the body.We encourage our customers to review the considerable information andtestimonials found online concerning the potential benefits of CBD.

How long will CBD stay in my body?

o   CBD stays in your systemfor approximately 3 to 5 days, but its effects only last about 3 to 4 hours.
o   In a study conducted bythe U.S. National Library ofMedicine, patients took extremely high doses of 700mgof CBD per day for six weeks. When patients stopped dosing for one week, no CBDwas detected in the patients’ blood. Therefore, for moderate to light users,the time that CBD oil will stay in your system is around 3 to 5 days, withabout a week being the maximum.
o   Factors that may influencehow long CBD stays in your body include, but are not limited to age, weight,diet, metabolism, genetics, and environment. The same is true for oiltinctures, balms, serums, and roll-on gels.

How do I use Canviva CBD products?

o   Each of our products has adifferent recommendation for how to use it and how much should be ingested orapplied topically.
o    One ofour most popular products is CBD oil tincture. CANVIVA tinctures come with adropper which allows users to take carefully measured amounts. Tincturesshould be taken sublingually by dropping the oil underneath the tongue andholding it there from 1 to 5 minutes. Some research has found that thisdelivery method makes cannabinoids more readily and consistently available tothe body. Our SOLUBLE tincture was formulated to blend with food and drinks andcan be used in recipes.
o    Althoughtinctures may be applied topically, CANVIVA’s topical products are bettersuited for this method of application. Because the skin is anexcellent semi-permeable membrane, you can apply our topical CBD products – our balm,lotion, face serum, or roll-on – onto the affected area.

Is CBD addictive,or are there any ill effects when stopping use?

Will CBD products increase or decrease my appetite?

CBD products should not affect your appetite.

Will I feel high if I use CBD products?

There is no high euphoric feeling when you take CBD (cannabidiol) as opposed to THC(tetrahydrocannabinol).

Are CBD products best when used consistently or on an “as needed” basis”?

It is upto you how often you use the product. However, CBD does tend to work better with daily maintenance dosages and extended use.

Should I use CBD products before or after exercise?

We recommend using a daily maintenance dose of one of our CANVIVA CBD oil tinctures. We developed CANVIVA SPORT CBD Oil Tincture to use as part of your workout regimen. Pair it with CANVIVASPORT CBD Oil Roll-On Gel after your workout for maximum benefit.

Do I need to take CBD products with food or water?

CBD Oil Tinctures are not known to irritate the digestive system, so you do not need to take them with food or water. However, CANVIVA offers SOLUBLE CBD Tincture which is specially formulated to mix with foods orbeverages (we even offer recipes on our blog.)
